The short version

HuntMe Links uses a small number of cookies. Most of them are required to keep you signed in or remember a preference you set yourself. We also use Google Analytics to count visits and see which screens are used, which sets two cookies of its own.

Analytics only runs if you accept it. We ask on your first visit, and if you decline nothing is loaded and no analytics cookie is set. The cookies that keep you signed in work either way, because the service cannot be provided without them.

We do not use cookies for advertising, we do not sell what they record, and no social network or advertising company sets a cookie through this site.

Cookies we set

NamePurposeLasts
auth-tokenKeeps you signed in. It holds your session token and is set httpOnly, so the page itself cannot read it.About 3 hours
user-roleWhether you are a publisher, finance or an administrator, so the server knows which screens to allow. Also httpOnly, so it cannot be changed from the browser.About 3 hours
user-name, user-email, user-idYour name, address and account id, so a page can greet you without asking the server again. These are not credentials and grant no access.About 3 hours
theme_mode, theme_presetWhether you chose the light or dark appearance, and which colour theme. Set only when you change it.1 year
_ga, _ga_B96BL9RJ7BSet by Google Analytics. They give your browser a random identifier so repeat visits are counted as one person rather than several. They hold no name, email address or account details.2 years

Local storage

Alongside cookies, your browser keeps a small record called user in local storage. It holds your name, email address, role and session expiry so the dashboard can show them immediately on load. It contains no password and no session token, and it is removed when you sign out.

Analytics, and how to opt out

The two _ga cookies are set by Google Analytics, which we use to see how many people visit and which screens they use. It tells us that a dashboard screen was opened; it does not tell us who opened it. We do not send Google your name, your email address, your earnings or anything else from your account, and we have not enabled any advertising or remarketing feature.

You are asked before any of it runs. Decline on the notice shown on your first visit and no script loads and no _ga cookie is written. To change an earlier answer, clear this site’s stored data in your browser and you will be asked again.

You can also refuse it independently of that: block cookies for this site in your browser settings, turn on your browser’s tracking-protection feature, or install Google’s own opt-out add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout. Refusing it changes nothing about how the platform works for you.

What we do not do

  • No advertising or retargeting cookies.
  • No social media pixels or embedded trackers.
  • No selling or sharing of what our cookies record.
  • No cookie set by any company other than us and Google Analytics.

Tracking links you generate do carry an identifier, but that identifies you as the publisher so a sale can be credited to you. It is not used to profile the person who clicks.

Turning them off

Your browser can block or delete cookies for this site. Blocking the two session cookies will sign you out and prevent you from signing back in, because they are how the service recognises you. Blocking the preference cookies only means the site forgets your appearance settings.
